When Democrats took control of Congress after the '06 elections, Nancy Pelosi, the new Speaker, PROMISED
the most ethical Congress ever.  This included the little diddy known as "earmarks."  Apparently, um, not so much.  First, there was David Obey, who decided that earmarks would be put into bills, in CONFERENCE!
What does that mean?  It means that these ridiculous earmarks would be inserted into bills behind close doors and could not be debated when they were brought to the floor.  Yeah, that's ethical.  Then there is JACK MURTHA.
He received the most earmarks of anybody.  150 million dollars worth!   Want to know just a little about his "supposed" earmarks?  Watch this great HAM NATION.
Now look, there are Republicans who deserve to be shamed.  Bridge to nowhere, anybody?  That came from Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), who now has his own PROBLEMS.
But the bottom line is this.  Nothing has changed in Congress since the almighty Dems. have taken back control.  Want another example of how the Dems. have not changed anything, but have in fact become (or more correctly, just resumed being what they have always been), the very thing they supposedly ran against?  There is the little story of what happened last night on the floor of the HOUSE.
And listening to Andrew Wilkow fill in for Mark Levin tonight, Kirsten Gillibrand was one of those who changed her vote (after the vote was gaveled, mind you).   This is the same woman who defeated John Sweeney in my state of New York.  Apparently, giving federal funding to illegal aliens is a good thing in her world.  I surely hope the RNC has her targeted for defeat in '08....heck, she won in a heavily Republican district in upstate New York!  But, at the end of the day, nothing has changed in Congress.  Except for maybe stealing and changing votes!  That's a new one.  Can you imagine the outrage if Gingrich had done something like that?  It would be on the front page of the NY Times for days!  The most ethical Congress evah!  Yeah, and my beloved Buffalo Bills actually won those 4 Super Bowls!
