There is a great article by J.R. Dunn at the American Thinker about the surge, the media, the left, and also a little history lesson.  Check it out HERE.

Will the Dems. Just Officially Change their Party Name

So, last night was the Democratic debate with CNN and Youtube.  As Dennis Miller has said several times, if my yawn got any bigger, they would've had to assign it a hurricane name.  Now, I could sit here and opine about how Obama wants to be nice and talk to dictators and our enemies (not to mention how he wrongly invoked Reagan and his "talking" to the Soviets), our I could talk about the purposeful showing of the guy asking about gun rights (yeah, I'm quite sure there was no agenda in showing THAT particular video...ie....trying to display all gun owners as wackos!), or I could talk about Hillary and her pink outfit (trying to show she is NOT acting like a man) and not to mention that when she first ran for Senate in NY, she was a "new" Democrat, but last night she announced she was a "Progressive" Democrat (isn't it an amazing contrast, we conservatives have no problem saying we are conservative, but the libs. are simply incapable of admitting they are liberal...or socialist), but instead, as I was watching the debate, something else struck me.  The debate was held at the military school, The Citadel.  Now, maybe it's just me and my blonde hair, but don't I recall the Dems. complaining that anytime the President gave a speech on the war, and it would be in front of various military bases etc., that he was just pandering to the military people and families?  And don't the Dems. also complain that the President panders to the Christian right?  Yet, there's Hillary, Obama, Gore, repeatedly giving political speeches in black churches.  So, I have come up with an idea.  Once and for all, the Democratic Party should change their name to the Hippocratic Party.  Want another example, on the Drudge Report, there are links where in April, Hillary said she would sit down with our enemies.  Last night, all of a sudden, she said she didn't want to be used as  a propaganda tool if she sat down with them.  Here's another one.  I highly recommend checking out Mary Katharine Ham's latest HamNation video.  In it, you'll see her talking to an Iraq war vet who is a part of  Vets for Freedom.  Now, we always here Harry Reid or other libs. say that they love our troops and support our troops.  Yet, when the Vets for Freedom went to capital hill last week before the pajama party, they asked to meet with the spineless Reid.  Guess what?  Reid was too busy meeting with moveon.org and other far left wackos.  He wouldn't meet with the Vets for Freedom!  Yet, he supports our troops!  The hypocrisy of the left is now just running rampant.  I really think they should consider changing the name of their party.  At least then it would be an accurate display of what they really believe in.  Hypocrisy.

Don't Tell Me You'll Protect Us....Ever Again!

I don't want to ever hear another lib say they will protect us.  First, they oppose the Patriot Act.  Then they oppose the NSA wiretapping program.  They oppose closing our borders.  Now, they won't even stand up for whistle blowers who notice something suspicious.  Last night, the libs blocked a Peter King amendment to the Homeland Security Bill that would give protection from lawsuits to people who report suspicious behavior.  It came as a result of those flying Imams who were taken off a plane in November for acting suspiciously.  Michelle Malkin has great coverage
of the vote, including the roll call.  Hell, even Shrill Hill voted for the amendment, known as the "John Doe" amendment.  On top of that, Debra Burlingame, whose husband was a pilot on Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon, has written a fantastic opinion piece that you can read HERE.
All of this adds up to a disgusting party that cares more about their interest groups (specifically, the trial lawyers and CAIR) then they do about protecting all of us.  Now, of course, those on the left will accuse me of being a hypocrite.  The right is beholden to their interest groups, too!  Well, lets just take a look at that.  The interest groups that support the Republican party stand for among other things, smaller government intrusions into our lives, faith-based initiatives and groups who actually go around and help people, standing up for life, and standing up for our Constitutional right to bear arms.  How about the left's interest groups?  Abortion on demand, including partial-birth abortion, trial lawyers who help inflate medical malpractice rates (John Edwards anybody?), gay and lesbian groups, open border groups like La Razza, CAIR (which was named an unindicted co-conspirator in funding Hamas), environmental wackos like the Sierra Club, who refuse to let us get off foreign oil, and that's just to name a few.  The comparison isn't even close.  The libs will not protect us, period.  Remember, it was under the Clinton administration that we were hit repeatedly overseas, and nothing was ever done, which only embolden Bin Laden and his cronies.  It was more important to attack the Branch Davidian and use force to send that evil  Elian Gonzalez back to Cuba.  It was the pathetic Jimmy Carter who let the Shah of Iran fall, which helped give rise to islamic radicalism.  I don't ever want to hear another lib say that they can protect us better.  The evidence clearly shows, that in the face of danger, the only thing the libs know how to do is stick their heads in the sands and pretend it's not real.

The Left's Worse Nightmare Comes True!

In the Star Wars movies, Darth Vader was the subordinate to the Emperor.  He never got to be "the man."  Well, to the horror of the left (and the amusement of the us on the right), the man the far left has termed as Darth Vader, VP Dick Cheney, will become the Emperor, even if for only a short time.  President Bush will be having a routine colonoscopy on Saturday, and because he will be under anesthesia, Section 3 of the 25th Amendment will be executed.  For those who don't know what that is, that means Dick Cheney will be President!!  Now of course it will only be for a short time, but I can just imagine the hysteria the left will have.  "Cheney's going to bomb Iran!"  "Cheney's going to wipe Syria off the map (which means no more vacation trips for Nancy Pelosi)!"  "Cheney's going to give Scooter Libby a full pardon!"  "Halliburton is going to take over the country!"  My only regret is that school is not in full session right now, because I can only imagine what the lefty groups would be doing.  Protesting the 25th Amendment, drawing chalk outlines to represent all of the people Cheney will kill.  But, you know, this also raises another question.  Do those on the left who fervently believe President Bush should be impeached, realize that Cheney then would officially become the "Emperor?"  It's going to be so much fun watching the left hyperventilate, even if it's just for a short time.

Democrats Show Their Hypocrisy (Again!)

So how many of you actually stayed up and watched the insanity of the all night  Iraq "debate?"  I'll admit, being the political junkie I am, I watched until about 2am.  Some of the things I heard were amazing.  First, anybody who has read this blog knows I am not on John McCain's campaign wagon.  Having said that, you have to give credit where credit is due.  Senator McCain was awesome during this staged event.  So were most of the Republicans for that matter, and for that, they should be congratulated.  Then there were the Dems.  How did this party go from wanting to stop Hitler, to wanting give in to Al Qaeda?  Perhaps the most insane stuff came from Mr. Chappaquiddick.  If you want to hear a quick sound bite on his ridiculousness, go to lauraingraham.com.  On the left click on the free audio section and give a listen to the Senate Sleep-Over.  During this sound byte, you will hear the senior blow hard from Massachusetts say that the Dems. have seen the polls and the American people want us out.  Let the hypocrisy begin.  Kennedy and polls?  How come Teddy didn't seem to give a flying you know what about the polls when it came to his shamnesty bill?  How come the man nobody wants to ride in a car with is not paying attention to the polls about Congress?  A recent poll on rasmussenreports.com says only 16% of Americans believe Congress is doing a good or excellent job.  The same site has a poll that says 51% of Americans want to wait until General Petraeus's September report to decide if an Iraq policy change is needed.   For Kennedy to use polls as his argument is just disingenuous.  And hypocritical.  But what else is new for the Defeatist...um... Democratic party?

No-Doze and Cots

So it is a big night in the Senate.  A potential all night debate on Iraq.  Get the no-doze and cots ready.  There are even rumors that the dems. are going to use capital hill police to drag Republicans to the floor.  There are a couple of things that I find interesting....er...um...hypocritical (just on a side note, when you look up the word hypocrite in Websters Dictionary, there should just be a picture of the Democratic donkey).  Anyhoo, I was watching Dick Durbin speak on the floor earlier, and he was complaining how the Republicans were demanding a 60 vote majority to close debate and that this has come from nowhere.  Really?  Hey Dicky, wasn't it the Dems. who demanded a 60 vote super majority on the President's judicial nominations?  Me thinks so!  The other thing I find interesting is how the Dems. just shoot their mouths off all of the time, never remembering their previous statements.  Remember how late last year Harry Reid said we needed more troops in Iraq?  Then, when the President announced the troop surge, he was all of a sudden against it!  In addition, the Dems. helped to confirm General Petraeus 81-0.  Let me restate that....81-0.  Now they refuse to give this great man the time he needs to see if the surge works?  The fifth battalion of the surge only got to Iraq last month.  There are numerous reports saying that it is working.  But, no we can't wait until his report in September, we have to be defeated now.  Harry Reid said that we need to start listening to the generals.  Then he came out and said he didn't believe the generals and even called retiring general Peter Pace "incompetent" to a group of liberal bloggers.  The amazing thing is Dems. truly don't understand why they are thought to be weak on national defense.  It's kinda hard to believe their tough on national defense when it seems all they really believe in is making sure we lose.  But hey, maybe we should listen to them, because after all this new Democratic controlled Congress has been extremely successful.....in the renaming of post offices!!  The issue of our time people!

Elizabeth Edwards and Political Discourse

Remember when Elizabeth Edwards called into Messnbc's Hardball and tried to take Ann Coulter to task about the political discourse Ann uses?  Well, you should read Elizabeth's interview with salon.com.  You can read the money line HERE
I also read the interviewer's response to the Drudge Reports banner calling it a "Gender Bender."  While she may not have specifically said Hillary a "man," she absolutely accused her of "behaving like a man."  This is the discourse Elizabeth Edwards believes in?  Now look, I'm no Hillary fan in anyway, shape, or form, but this interview is pretty clear to me and she clearly states that Hillary is trying to act like a man.  I wonder if Messnbc will have her on and allow Ann Coulter to call in and challenge her.  Won't hold my breath.  Just gotta love the hypocrisy of the left...it is always entertaining!

Back Baby!

Gotta love technology.  Hey, if algore invented the internet, shouldn't he take responsibility for the creation of viruses that cripple our computers?  Just wondering.  Anyhoo, since it's been awhile, there are some things I want to touch on.

Immigration:  Kudos to Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham (who was calling Republican Senate offices on the air....just classic!) and other talk show hosts and bloggers who played a role in defeating the shamnesty bill.  But the biggest kudos goes to the American people, who let our voices be heard.  Message to Lindsay Graham, Trent Lott, John McCain and other disgraceful Republicans.....we did read the bill, we knew what was in the bill, and we knew what you were trying to force down our throats.  How did it feel to have the fury of the American people come down on your heads??!!  Don't take us for granted ever again!

To the family's of the Haditha soldiers who are going to ask for John Murtha (D-PA) to be censured and in one case at least, sue him for defamation, I truly hope you bring that disgraceful piece of garbage to his knees!!  Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty (innocent, being the increasingly apparent key word) congressman?  Guess that doesn't apply if it goes against your political positioning.

I watched the President's press conference the other day.  He did really well.  I know Peggy Noonan has an interesting take in her latest article, which you can read for yourself at (http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110010326), but this is where I feel the President is good. I agree with so many others that the President has done some bad things recently, including trashing his base that has stood by him, but I still support him when it comes to the war in Iraq and on Terror.  During the presser, Helen Thomas once again showed why she's nothing more than an ignorant, liberal hack.  "Don't you understand we brought Al-Qaeda into Iraq?  We should bring in UN peace keepers."  Really?  First, seems to me Zarqawi went to Iraq before we invaded.  Seems to me Abdul Nidal was living in Iraq for years before we invaded.  Seems to me there was an Al-Qaeda training camp in northern Iraq before we invaded.  Secondly, the UN is incapable of doing anything but being anti-semitic and anti-American, all the while taking hard earned American taxpayer money.  How did the UN peace keepers do in Somalia before we got there?  Wasn't it UN peace keepers accused of raping children in the Congo?  Didn't the UN have peace keepers in Lebanon to keep peace(and wasn't their post right next to Hezbollah's post)?  How's the UN doing in Darfur Helen?  When the reopened the new press room in the White House, they should have told her it was in a different location.

Commuting of Scooter Libby:  while I do agree with most conservatives that he should get a full pardon, I tend to think that this was still a good thing by the President, and that the full pardon will happen at the end of his term.  Still waiting for something to happen to Richard Armitage....you remember him, right?  Ya know...the ACTUAL LEAKER!!!!

Finally, is John Edwards going to charge $55,000 for each of his stops on his poverty tour?  Just wondering.

Peter Pace's Retirement?

Chairman of the Joint Chief's of Staff, the admirable, General Peter Pace is retiring.  What I found most appalling was Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates' announcement of it.  He stated that he wanted from day one of his appointment to renominate Gen. Pace for another 2 year term.  But he didn't because of the "contentious" nature his renomination would cause.  Way to stand up for someone you believe in!  I think Gates is yet another example of President Bush caving in to critics, and having somebody like Gates be our Defense Secretary.  This guy has no backbone!  But I guess it's appropriate, since this administration doesn't seem to have a full backbone either.  While I won't abandone the President on the War on Terror, the War in Iraq, or tax cuts, I have left him on too many other things...immigration, spending, giving George Tenant the Medal of Freedom, and two major entitlement programs, No Child Left Behind and the medical prescription plan.  Bottom line....I miss Rummy!!!!!!!

Need Another Reason to Fear Hillary?

At a campaign stop on Tuesday, Hillary gave me yet another reason to be scared, very scared of her.  You can read about it HERE.  Essentially what she said was, we need to replace our "on your own society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity."  Am I the only one who finds that eerily similar to this qoute: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"?  For those who don't know, that's from Karl Marx!  Be afraid, be very afraid!!
