Assimilation Anyone?

The current heated and contested debate going on over this "comprehensive immigration reform" has been something to watch.  But it seems to me one important thing is being overlooked.  It's called assimilation.  Nobody ever wants to point out the differences between then and now.  When our grandparents or great-grandparents came to this country, there was a strong effort to assimilate to the new country they just came to.  Nowadays, not so much.  We are living in the days of bilingual ballots, commercials, phone messages etc.  I truly believe this is a topic that isn't getting enough attention.  The illegal aliens who take to the streets, demanding rights in this country are making no effort to assimilate to our country.  Instead they just continue to demand more bilingual options.  I will let the really smart people like Michelle Malkin and others give you all of the background on this disasterous bill, but I really want to point out to people the small detail of assimilation and the lack of it.

On a side note, I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day and took some time to remember what the day is really all about....not what John Edwards thought it should be about...protesting.  Thank you to all of our service members who have given their lives for us and their sacrifice should never be forgotten or cheapend...are you listening Mr. $400 haircut?!  I want to thank both of my grandfathers, my dad, my uncle, and now my brother and his wife for their service to this country and giving me, and all of us, the chance to be free and remain free!  Thank you!

Some Random Thoughts

Just Some Random Thoughts From NY:

Rudy
: You show up in Albany, NY and give a 10 minute speech?  Me thinks you are taking some of us New Yorkers for granted.  And having Joe Bruno at your side doesn't help either!

John Edwards: a $400 haircut, working for a hedgefund, getting $55,000 for a speech on poverty, there is no such thing as the "global war on terror," and that we should use Memorial Day to rail against the war in Iraq....can you be a bigger hypocrite and a digusting individual?...I'm sure you'll show you can.

Immigration Bill: hey Lindsey Graham....how dare you call us who are opposed to this bill as bigots!  Geeze, can't understand why you were booed out of the South Carolina Republican convention.....how dare you.

John McCain: once again, thank you for your service to this country, but also, once again...drop out!!!

President George W. Bush: there are many of us who have stood by you, and will continue to stand by you when it comes to the war on terror, the war in Iraq, tax cuts, etc...but you are alienating the people who have stood by you the most, with this crappy immigration bill.  Why are you doing this to us?

Nancy Pelosi and House Dems: the most ethically clean House ever?  So how come you and your party wouldn't allow a vote on reprimanding Jack (ABSCAM) Murtha for threatening a fellow House member (Jim Rogers)?  It hasn't been even half of a year, and already you are the worst Speaker in this country's history!

Jimmy Carter: worst administration ever?!  Really?  Gas lines, misery index, "crisis of confidence,"  high inflation, high unemployment, allowed the Shah of Iran to fall which led to Iran's islamic radicalism that threatens us and the world today, gave away the Panama Canal, did nothing when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan (oh, wait...you boycotted the Olympics...that worked well!) and then there was that little thing of leaving 52 Americans to be held hostage for 444 days in Iran (again, your fault because you let the Shah fall)....hi kettle, this is the pot...you're black!!!!

Rosie O'Donnell: may have already said this, but the MOST intolerant person in this country....once you leave the View, maybe you can run Ron Paul's campaign.

Elisabeth Hasselback: we support you!

Michelle Malkin: needs her own show on Foxnews!

Greta van Susteran: great job from the Reagan Library....too bad you don't do more cool things like that.

The Reagan Diaries: thanks Mom and Dad for buying it for me!...this is gonna be a great read!  We miss you President Reagan!

Duncan Hunter, John Boehner, and other House Republicans: please, please, please, fight the good fight against this crap immigration bill!

Fred Thompson: we need you!!!!

Conservatives: keep the the phone calls and the emails going...we have to stand up to this terrible immigration bill...let your voices be heard!!!!

Rudy Giuliani:FoxNews Sunday Interview

So I watched Rudy on Foxnews Sunday, and I have to say, he didn't really clear things up for me.  I'm personally against abortion, but I believe a woman should have a choice.  I know I have blonde hair, but, huh?  I really don't think he helped himself there.  Then, was I the only one who noticed that it seemed like when it came to gun control and illegal immigration, that he was essentially saying that as mayor of NYC, he had to take one stand, but as president he would take a different?  He said this quite a bit too.  And was I the only one who noticed an awful lot of sweating?  Look, I respect Rudy for his stand on terror(and once again he did well with that topic), Iraq, tax cuts, and of course how he handled himself after 9-11.  But I really don't think he came off well.  Now, if it comes down to him and Hillary, I will definately not take the route of that Lamb guy.  That's just lunacy and it's almost how we ended up with that global warming propagandist, algore as president.  But Bill Kristol of the Foxnews Sunday panel brought up a great point.  At some point it could come down to Rudy and another Republican for the nomination.  And if the other is just as strong on terrorism and Iraq, but is solidly pro-life, Rudy is going to lose.  While I do agree with Dick Morris's COLUMN  on townhall.com to some degree, I just don't know if Rudy can win over the conservative base.  We shall see.  The Republican debate on Tuesday night (on the evil Foxnews!) could be interesting.  At least we won't have to see that egomaniac Chris Matthews try and make himself the star of the debate.  It's unbelievable how full of himself he is.  Oh, one more thing.  Mike Wallace asks Mitt Romney when he first had sex?!  Is that decreped has been going to ask little miss entitlement the same question?  Well, of course we all know the answer to that.  Unfreaking believable...oh, wait...very freaking believable.

What I Learned This Semester

It's been an interesting semester here at UAlbany.  What have I learned?

9-11 Truth Oranization- the most intolerant and factually wrong people I've ever come across (when you publicly admit in the student paper that some of what you say is wrong, but "we'll let the students decide," um...you suck)

College Democrats- completely afraid to say what they really believe.

Young Socialists- where did you go?

College Republicans- because of graduation, we need some new members....and not members who kiss the New York State Republicans asses... I'm sorry, what have they or the State CR's done for us? Still waiting.

Green Party- you vote to throw out the only sensible member of your party, so you can team up with the 9-11 Truth Org?  Um.....ok.

The ASP(Albany Student Press)- great place to learn about sex.   Now what I am going to do?  Oh, they talked about the environment too!

Professors- hate Bush!

Debating- as a conservative, don't trust the honors fraternity.....THEY LIE!

Affirmative Action Bake Sale- most people...clueless...read the ASP

My Beliefs- never more solidlyl conservative!

An Inconveinante Truth- not forced on students unless you're in a class that shows it, and tells students that there will be "questions" about it on the final.

The Student Association- I'm paying these assholes??!!

I love being a student at UAlbany...it was a great year...for the most part...ok...sort of....College does rock....not because of politics....but because I can tell any professor, any student, or any group, what I think....this is truely the arena of ideas...unfortunately,  the arena is filled with idiots!

Why Laura Ingraham Rocks!

This will probably be one of those posts, where people say...duh.  But, Laura Ingraham rocks!  Now, if you've read my previous post about the "controversary" surrounding Rush, you might think he's my favorite conservative talk show host.  I respect the hell out of Rush.  I love listening to Rush, Hannity, Levin and others.  But, Laura is my favorite.  She recently helped call Verizon Wireless to the mat for their support of Akon (or as O'Reilly called him, Akron--isn't that a city in Ohio?....and Michelle Malkin deserves credit as well for getting them to pull their sponsorship of his music and tour).  But please click this LINK.  This is Laura at her best.  Bruce Bartlett actually worked in both the Reagan and Bush, Sr. administrations.  But, apparently, we conservatives have no hope in '08 and should consider the "conservative" democratic choice......HILLARY!  Are you freaking kidding me??!!  How did this guy get into the Reagan and Bush, Sr. administrations?!  Take a listen to the interview and let me know what you think.  Thank goodness this moron isn't our public face.  Hey, maybe we should just give up on War on Terror!  More to follow on that little topic.

KORV-Sacramento....Hammered!

This will be brief...Sacramento news channel 13 has just been obliterated!!!  After a month and a half of Rush Limbaugh playing a parody about Barack Obama, they decided to weigh in.  Only problem is they did what most of the MSM does...they did no research!!  Their morning show tried so hard to slam Rush Limbaugh's parody, called Barack the Magic Negro.  One problem.  They did no research!!  The parody is based on LIBERALS who have said defamatory things about Barack, and it started with an African-American writer in the LA Times and the likes of Joe Biden!  So what do they do after their bogus and stupid morning report?  They post a YouTube video, and equate it to Rush.  One small problem.  Didn't come from Rush.  As of 11:58pm on Monday night, the poll they put up to find out if people thought the parody song was racist....um...really um....95% said NO!  You can view the poll and the viewer feedback here.  My goodness...it would be so easy for me to trash this station but, others have already done it and done it well.  And my Aunt and Uncle wonder why I have no desire to step foot in California.  I'm afraid the stupidity will seep into me through osmosis.

Random Thoughts

Some Random Thoughts:

Vice President Cheney:  Once again...YOU ROCK!!

Glenn Beck:  Ditto!!

Harry Reid:  Resign you bitter old hypocrite!!

Nancy Pelosi:  So I've heard that you libs were elected in November so that you guys will change the lightbulbs in Congress.  Huh?  I must have missed that in the exit polling in November.

Congressional Libs:  to those of you who had to be "talked into" going to a meeting with General Patreus (you remember him, the General who came up with the surge plan and was unanimously confirmed 81-0)...you tree hugging libs wonder why Conservatives, Republicans, and millions of Americans don't believe that you support and respect our military??!!

Dennis Kucinich:  Can I have a mailing address so I can send you a penny?  Then you can go buy a clue.

John Kerry:  rumor has it he's changed his mind and is thinking of running again.  I've been told he served in Vietnam.  Is that true?

Rosie O'Donnell:  ding dong, the ignorant witch is gone.  Must be nice to be the poster child of tolerance.

The U.S. Army:  Anyone who knows me or has read my blog, knows how much love, respect, and admiration I have for the military.  And it's not just because I come from a military family.  The respect I have for people who have and continue to serve our country is genuine and deeply heartfelt.  But my goodness.  Why did you do what you did with the Pat Tillman situation?  I know I have blonde hair, but I do know why.  It made for a good story.  But, regardless of whether he died of enemy or friendly fire, his story speaks for itself.  He gave up a pro football career and millions of dollars to serve his country after 9-11.  But what makes it even more remarkable, is that he was just like any other soldier.  He wanted no special credit for it.  Everything I've read and seen showed that Pat Tillman did not want any special recognition.  He refused to do interviews because all he wanted to do was be like the rest of the Rangers.  The heroism of our military does not need to be embellished.  As the Rangers who served in Moghidishu have said, they don't want special credit, just tell their story true.  Fix this and fix it fast.  God Bless all of our military personel!

The Joys of College Debating

On Monday night, the UAlbany College Republicans debated the College Democrats.  It was supposed to be about ideology, but I'll get to that in a second.  The debate was put on by the political science honors fraternity, Phi Sigma Alpha, and I have to say that the bill of goods that they sold was pretty good.  First, it would be heavily promoted to ensure the biggest crowd of any debate this semester.  Was it heavily promoted and did we have the biggest crowd?  Um, not so much.  Free food for everyone!  Wonder why somebody had to stop at Price Chopper and by a small vegetable platter?  There would be an independent moderator.  Um, once again, not so much.  They apparently "forgot" to get one.  So who moderated?  A member of the College Democrats!  Nice.  Now, my friend Matt and I could have a pulled what the dems have been pulling recently anytime Foxnews is a sponsor of a presidential candidates debate....sucked our thumbs, held our breath, stomped our feet, and pulled out.  But, both of us really like competing in the arena of ideas, so we went ahead with it.  Now, as I said earlier, the debate was supposed to be about ideologies...Conservativism vs. Liberalism.  We knew right away that wasn't going to be the case, because when they got up to give their opening statements, they stated that they were going to talk about the Democratic platform, and that they got a lot of their information right off the DNC website (it should also be noted that they rarely said the word liberal, and were actually called out on it by an audience member.."The conservatives don't shy away from conservatism, why do you guys shy away from the word liberal?").  As Rush says, they are incapable of stating out in the open what they really are.  So, first of all, because of our conservative beliefs, Matt and I were called extremists in the mold of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.  And quite a few times.  Matt is catholic and I'm agnostic (sorry Mom and Dad, don't give up on me yet).  My family is very christian.  We tried to convey that there are millions of christians who don't like, respect, or listen to Falwell or Robertson.  I don't know a single member of my family or other christians that I know who like those two.  But, oh well...we're extremists.  Then to further back up that they got their talking points right off the DNC website, we were treated to the "culture of corruption" line many times during the night.  They even threw Tom Delay into that mix.  So of course we brought up William "Cold Cash" Jefferson, Democrat-Louisiana.  "He hasn't been convicted of anything," they said.  Really?  Last time I checked either had Tom Delay.  Didn't matter...culture of corruption, culture of corruption!  In our opening statement, we talked about how we are traditionalists who believe in the traditional family structure.  Well, we of course got bashed for that, but there was one really interesting point made to us.  They were talking about how great Hillary is...Hillary this, Hillary that...at one point they said because she was first lady for 8 years, that gave her a lot of experience.  Hey, Laura Bush will be first lady for 8 years, lets run her in 2008!  She's got approval numbers that probably throw Hillary into a fit everytime she sees them!  Anyhoo, I made the point that I didn't understand why some women thought Hillary was this great role model to be looked up to.  I mean, she just sat there while her horny husband cheated on her repeatedly.  Great message to send the girls and women of the country.  So, you would not believe what was thrown back at us.  "Well, Hillary wanted to keep her family together, so doesn't that fit into your traditional beliefs?"  Ugh!  I didn't realize that a husband who is a serial adulterer and a woman who does nothing but take it were a part of traditional, family beliefs.  Must be my blonde hair. In our opening statement, we made no secret of how much we love and respect our military.  The only time the libs even came close to talking about the troops is when they said they believe in strong national security.  Really?  Then how come it's the libs who don't want us listening to terrorist phone calls coming in or going out of our country?  How come the libs don't want us tracking and stopping the terrorists money flow?  How come the libs want to continue chipping away at the Patriot Act?  Again, must be my blonde hair.   So anyhoo, it was basically beat up the conservatives night.  The next day I was thinking what a waste of our time.  But, now that I've had a couple of days to think about it, something good did come from it.  More than ever, I'm proud to be a conservative and I'm proud to stand up for our conservative beliefs.  Ah, the joys of college debating!  Oh, by the way.  We evil College Republicans have something planned on campus tomorrow.  It could definately lead to some interesting stories to tell you about.  Stay tuned.

Virginia Tech Confusion

I have purposely waited to post on the Virginia Tech tragedy.  I figured that by waiting a couple of days, things might become a little clearer.  Unfortunately, now that it is Thursday, confusion still reigns for me.  I don't know who to be mad at...the alleged shooter Cho, the university and officials, those trying to once again make hay over a tragedy, or the media.  I was also thinking, this could happen here at UAlbany.  But, then I remembered that UAlbany has already had to deal with terrible insanity.  You can read about it here.  I also found out that a friend knew somebody who was killed at VA Tech, and not only that, but had to endure an insensitive classmate who thought this shouldn't be on the news 24/7.    What was I supposed to say to her?  All I could say, was that I was sorry for her loss and that she shouldn't worry about the remarks of this insensitive jerk.  How profound on my part.  This incident has had ripple effects throughout probably, every university in the country.  I've heard professors talk about it at UAlbany.  I've heard students talking about it.  What should we think about this?  I don't know.  Here's what I do know.  First, the alleged shooter deserves no sympathy.  The university and it's officials deserve no credit.  Those who are trying to turn this into an anti-gun campaign (the Rosie O'Donnells of the world....she loves quoting the Constitution when it fits her agenda, now, not so much) have no shame.  The media, including Foxnews, whom I watch ALL OF THE TIME, are exploiting the community of Virginia Tech until the next big story comes along.  So what to do?  Well, I've thought about this for several days now, and here's what I've come up with.  There IS a lasting image from this senseless tragedy.  I was watching the ceremony the other day (where the President and First Lady showed up) and was a witness to inspiration.  Poet Nikki Giovanni had just given a sturring speech, or pep talk.  Afterwards, the thousands in attendence started to chant "Lets Go Hokies!" ...."Lets Go Hokies!"  I had goosebumps!  There will be plenty of opportunities to answer questions or second guess.  But, for right now, this country and its people have only one responsibility.  And it's simply this.  It's up to us, the average American, to lift the community of Virginia Tech up onto our shoulders and carry them.  It is up to us, to support them.  It is up to us, to show them the compassion and love that makes this country what it is.  Special.  To the members of the Virginia Tech community, this UAlbany student is with you.

Shut Up Rev's Sharpton and Jackson

As no doubt many of heard, there is a small brew-ha-ha going on over Don Imus's recent comments about the Rutgers womens basketball team.  He essentially called them "nappy headed ho's."  Now, do I really have to state how stupid of a comment this was?  It was stupid, non-funny, and uncalled for.  Now having said this, what I personally find just as bad are the two people leading the charge to have Imus fired.  CBS radio and MSNBC have suspended him for two weeks, and I am fine with that.  But, Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are spearheading the charge to have Imus fired.  These two are the last people to demand anything from anybody.  Having grown up and lived my entire life here in New York, I am very well aware of a couple of incidents that these two men were involved with.  First, anybody else remember Tawana Brawley?  She falsely accused officers of raping her.  And Reverend Al was here non-stop playing the race card.  There was only one problem.  THE INCIDENT NEVER HAPPENED!!  And did Sharpy-sharp (love Laura Ingraham, look for her in the new skits on FNC's Half Hour Newshour!) ever aplogize for inflaming the race issue over an incident that NEVER HAPPENED?!  Umm, not so much.  Then you have Jesse Jackson.  When he was running for president in 1984, he called New York City....Hymie Town.  That didn't exactly sit well with the jewish population in the city.  He refused to apologize, until of course the outrage was damaging his already fruitless campaign, then all of a sudden, he was sorry.  I have no problem with people being rightfully upset at what Don Imus said.  People should be upset.  But I do have a major problem with Reverend's Sharpton and Jackson leading the crusade to have Imus fired.  Sharpton was just on Glenn Beck's tv show on Headline News (a really good show by the way) and do you think Sharpton was overly critical when Beck pointed some of the songs that hip-hop have put out?  Surprise, surprise.  Not so much.  I don't know about you, but as soon as I see Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson arrive on the scene to ring the moral bell of outrage, that's when I know it's time to change the channel.  And a good place to go, is rushlimbaugh.com and listen to some of his Al Sharpton parody's.  Mamma Told Me Not to Run is just a classic!  Mamma should've told Al to not have such a "selective" moral outrage.

Neville Chamberlain Lives

Well, now that the Iran/British hostage (oops...didn't mean to call it what it was) crisis is over, what did we learn?  We learned that despite being constantly told that we need to look to history to learn from our mistakes, the world has learned nothing from the history of Neville Chamberlain.  This is the same British man who said we could have "peace in our time" and that Hitler could be talked too and negotiated with.  Say, how did that route work out?  Iran's president, and the ruling Mullah's can not be negotiated with.  Essentially what you had happen was, was a game of whack-a-mole.  You know that game at arcades, where a mole pops his head out of one of several holes, and it's your job to "whack him."  Well, President Tom (as Glenn Beck calls him) stuck his head out of a hole and the world didn't whack him.  Instead, he stuck his head out of the hole and saw the world has officially put it's collective heads in the sand and will not respond to anything.  When Iran and Syria were backing Hezbollah last summer against Israel, within days the world turned against Israel and blamed them for everything.  The Useless Nations passed 17 resolutions after Saddam signed the cease-fire agreement in 1991, and didn't enforce one of them....that was, of course, before the cowboy George W. Bush came along!  The freaking UN even had to water down their "condemnation" letter of Iran's taking of the British hostages.  Hey, where was Human Rights Watch?  I thought putting hostages on video was against the Geneva Convention....or at least frowned upon.  But, remember, America is the bad place.  At the end of the day, what this 2 week crisis showed, is that once again, there is a dispotic leader in the middle east, who has publicly stated that Israel should be wiped off the map, supports terrorist groups, and says that America is satan, and the rest of the world seems to have a case of Sgt. Schultze....."I see nothing, I hear nothing...nothing!!"  Well, I do see.  And what I see is the world on a collision course with Iran.  And I also see a world full of Nevelle Chamberlain's.  President Bush will stand up.  The rest of the world?  Umm, not so much.

A Message to Tony Snow and Others

I wanted to take a moment to say that Tony Snow is in my prayers.  If you live in a cave, or haven't heard the MSM talk about it, White House press secretary, Tony Snow is dealing once again with cancer.  You can read more about it here.  I also send my prayers to Elisabeth Edwards...cancer knows no ideology (of course, wackos on the left are saying some unbelievable crap about Tony...but, what a surprise?).  Unfortunately, I have some experience when it comes to this.  First, it was my Aunt, who I adore.  Then, it was my Dad.  Struggling for words here...he's my Dad....the greatest Dad ever.  Now another member of our family is confronting this.  Cancer sucks!!!  Just in case you don't understand me, cancer sucks!!!  Our family has been lucky so far.  My Aunt is doing great!  My Dad is doing great!  The one good thing is, that medicine and treatment has come such a long way, and thank goodness.  We no longer live in a time where the best medicine is to "bleed it out," like they did with George Washington.  Cancer sucks!!!  But, what doesn't suck, are the people who fight it and refuse to give in to it.  My Aunt and my Dad are proof of that.  And Tony Snow will be another example.  This may seem a little naive, but you want to know what beats cancer?  Medicine of course, but also, the human spirit.  Faith.  Optimism.  Family.  Tony has all of these qualities.  Good luck to one of the really good and nice guys in politics.  We'll deal with Helen Thomas and David Gregory for you.

VP Cheney Rocks!

Recently, the man who makes Yoda dare to dream about being smart, Vice-President Dick Cheney, once again said it like it is.  The dems DO NOT support our troops.  While they hide behind the whole, "we support them, because we want to bring them home" crap, this recent vote and passage by madame Pelosi's house is so freaking clear!  Look at the votes!  It barely passed!  And, jeeze, I wonder how they actually got the votes?  Oh, sorry, didn't mean to look at some of the facts.  Porky Pig (as well as Robert Byrd and Ted Stevens) would be envious.  But, get ready.  Is VP Cheney questioning the libs "patriotism?"  Damn straight he is!  The libs don't care about winning.  And just as a side note, just because they won Congress back, doesn't mean the American people want us to tuck our tail between our legs and run (hello?.. Mogidishu?....thanks McCain and former President Clinton...that didn't have consequences').  At it's essence, what Vice President Cheney is saying, is what so many of us conservatives believe.  The Nancy Pelosi's, Dickie (we're nazis') Durbin's, John (i served in vietnam) Kerry's, and too many more to list, believe we are the problem.  I respect both, Dick and Lynne Cheney.  Lynne's books are ridiculously awesome!!  But, the VP has no problem laying it out on the line.  Thank you VP Cheney....you're not afraid to say what should be said!
